After the trucks leave

The slab does its best work while nothing happens

Concrete does not dry, it cures, gaining strength for weeks after the pour looks finished. We cut the joints while the slab is young, then leave you the timings in writing so nothing rolls onto it early.

Typical timings for house work in our conditions; your handover sheet carries the ones for your slab and finish.

How a job runs

First ring to parked cars

  1. Get in touch

Ring or send the form with the suburb and what you want poured. We call back with a couple of questions and set a day to come out.

  2. We stand on the block

Levels, access, ground and finish samples, all checked on site. Any Cardinia road reserve permit gets flagged there and then. The written quote follows.

  3. Pour day

Break-out where needed, base built and compacted, mesh up on chairs, then the trucks. Most house jobs are formed one day and poured the next.

  4. Cure and hand over

Joints cut while the slab is young, timings for walking and driving left with you in writing, and sealer scheduled where the finish takes one.

Budget check

Put a bracket on it before anyone visits

These are the Cardinia rates our quotes are being written from right now (September 2026). Working rates until we measure the job; after that the written quote is the price, full stop.

Estate driveways around Pakenham and Officer commonly run 40 to 60 m²; a big farm shed base can be double that.
Budget bracket $0 Covers preparation, steel, concrete and the finish. Shire permit fees stay with the council. The single written figure follows the measure. Make it a written quote

Under every quote

Built for this ground

The layers you never see again decide how the surface behaves for decades. These four are in every figure we write. The full specification is public.

Ground that varies

The shire runs from reactive clay flats to hill country to drained swamp. The base gets designed for the ground under your block, not for an average one.

Steel that works

Reinforcing mesh rides on chairs mid-slab in every pour, stepped up where vehicles or machinery will sit. Mesh lying in the dirt is a receipt, not reinforcement.

Water with somewhere to go

Falls are set from real levels before the pour, and on unkerbed roads the crossover culvert is sized and kept flowing, because out here drainage is the whole game.

Cracks put on a leash

Control joints get cut early where the slab wants to move, and isolation joints keep new concrete off the house, the shed and anything older than it.

Where we work

Pakenham out to the hills and down to the swamp

13 suburbs on one tight run: Cardinia Shire wall to wall, plus Berwick over the Casey line. Estate blocks in Officer South, acreage off Nar Nar Goon and Cardinia, the hill at Beaconsfield Upper, the swamp flats at Koo Wee Rup: the same crew covers the lot, and short travel keeps every quote sharp.

Fair questions

The questions Pakenham asks us

What does concreting cost in Pakenham?

Our card is on the site for anyone to read: paths $90 to $130 per square metre, driveways $95 to $185 depending on the finish, patios and alfresco slabs $100 to $180, shed and garage slabs $110 to $150, exposed aggregate $130 to $185, and breaking out an old surface adds $35 per square metre. Working rates until we measure the job; after that the written quote is the price, full stop.

Do I need a permit from Cardinia Shire?

Inside your boundary, no. The crossover between your boundary and the road sits on council land, and the shire requires a Works Within a Road Reserve permit before it is built, changed or repaired, carried out by a contractor holding twenty million dollars in public liability insurance. We hold that cover, flag whether your job touches the road reserve at the measure, and put the permit path in the quote.

Do you only do the new estates?

No. Estate work in Pakenham, Officer and the southern land releases fills a lot of the calendar, but the same crew pours shed slabs on acreage out through Nar Nar Goon, Tynong and Garfield, driveways up the hill at Beaconsfield Upper, and replacements in the older streets of Berwick and the townships. Rural blocks bring their own details, unkerbed roads, culverts under crossovers, longer runs to the shed, and we quote all of it.

How quickly can someone look at my job?

Pakenham, Officer and Beaconsfield sit on the weekly run, so a measure usually lands within a few days of your call, with the townships and the hills lined up around jobs already out that way. The written quote follows the visit, and you book the pour when you are ready, not before.
